Kindergarten Bird Expedition
Why Birds??
Boise and its surroundings are home to songbirds, water birds, and birds of prey. Children have a lot of prior knowledge about birds and are immersed in a world where they can see birds every day. This accessibility makes birds a great tool to use while teaching children to cultivate habits of work, thinking, and stewardship through real world experiences.
Kindergarteners learn bird identification skills and discover the habits, needs and joys of birds in Idaho. They will conduct an in-depth study of birds in our area.
Through habitat improvement, research, and service, kindergarteners will learn about the natural world, the fragile existence of wildlife and the need to become caretakers of all living things.
